Lotte’s latest body of work exemplifies her painterly use of glazes. Her palette of colour for Tectonic includes the acid yellows, ochres and reds which featured in some of her pieces dating back to the 1970s, as well as the cobalt blues and jades seen more recently. Each tile is a masterpiece in its own right. Placed together, the tiles will form an in-show installation. Alongside, will be mounted ‘plates’, formed of segments pieced to form circles. These are suggestive of ‘Earth from above’, and give the onlooker a perspective on geological time and a sense of pre-history.
