Nicole Brandon interviews Jonathan Stroud at Edinburgh International Book Festival 2013, where he will be launching his new young adult series, Lockwood and Co. Starting with The Screaming Staircase, this series follows a group of paranormal investigators.

Jonathan starting writing at a young age, but it was when he worked as an editor at Walker Books that he discovered what he wanted to write about. Taking the plunge in 2001, Jonathan left his job and started writing full time. Since then he has written many books, including the Bartimaeus Sequence, which follows the career of a teenage magician, although told through the perspective of a five thousand year old djinni, Bartimaeus.
