Artist Kate Livingstone talks to Summerhall TV about the processes and inspirations behind her work. Using a variety of materials such as gold leaf, varnish and spray paint, Kate creates layers in her paintings to give a very textured outcome. Inspirations for her work range from Byzantine and medieval iconography to organic shapes found in nature.

Kate recently curated the exhibition By The Way They Hang and Turn, held at the Old Ambulance Depot, which featured her work amongst other artists based in Scotland, all looking at the theme of folds and drapery.
