It all started with the ‘Poetrees’, the first of 10 mysterious sculptures that appeared in literary and arts institutions in Edinburgh in 2011. Each sculpture, handcrafted from a book, had a small note attached to it with the words “A gift- in support of libraries, books, words, ideas…” All the sculptures have been collected for the exhibition ‘Gifted: The Edinburgh Book Sculpture Tour’. Abby Cunnane from the Scottish Poetry Library talks about the work of the sculptor who remains anonymous to this day.
