Noah Tomson and Harriet Braine from Theatre Paradok introduce their musical based on F Scott Fitzgerald’s The Diamond as Big as the Ritz; a grotesque allegory of the American Dream. A provincial young man, John, visits his wealthy school friend in the Montana Mountains. The Washington family happen to live in an exquisite chateau built on a mountain of solid diamond. They are threatened only by its discovery. Nevertheless, John is welcomed into their perfect world. Drunk on love and dazzled by everything, he fails to question the measures the family take to keep their secret.
The Really Big Diamond is on at 19.35, at theSpace @ Venue 45 until the 23rd August.
