Birthe Jørgensen

Birthe Jørgensen’s exhibition Riotous Exuberant Green and the Dutiful Beating of One’s Heart has come out of a recent residency at the Danish Institute in Athens, exploring the work and archive of surrealist Nicolas Calas, who was based in Athens during the 30s. It is part of a wider project exploring various cities within and on the edge of Europe and considering Europe’s current political situation. Jørgensen’s work is site specific and draws upon loose traditions of bricolage and assemblage, from her use of found and ready-made objects, to the influence of theatrical assemblage.
Riotous Exuberant Green and the Dutiful Beating of One’s Heart is on at 1 Royal Terrace, Glasgow, until the 28th June 2015. . Find out more here
